Unfocused Partiality of My ADHD Powers

So... this is my first attempt at sketching freehand with Illustrator. I was intent on trying to figure out something else entirely with color and file conversions... and then this happened.

Whoops!

Enjoy!

Astonishing Abby!

So I have this SUPER young, yet SUPER talented niece. Already having her eyes set on her goal before age 7, she is dubbed "The Next Pixar/Nickelodeon Artist." I'm always thrilled to find out about artists/creatives in the family so her story inspired me to honor her skillz via illustration.

Get ready, world... for Abby!!

Y'all ain't ready...

I Salute P:R

Sorry for the lack of updates to the regular viewers of my blog! All two of you. One of which is me. Hi Layne. lol! I've been ill, but this is an incredible pick-me-up.

Project: Rooftop by Dean Trippe

I've always been a HUGE fan of Project: Rooftop since I came across Spoiler Alert: It's A Stephanie Brown Special (almost exactly 3 years ago!). It's through this amazing site that I was first exposed to the likes of such amazing fashion and design-conscious artists/illustrators as Dean Trippe, Joel Carroll, and Joe Quinones among others... all of whom I continue to be an epic fan.

So it's a tremendous honor to join the ranks of the talent featured on the site, first with Fan-Art Friday: Metamorpho and, now, the Captain America: Fighting Styles contest. Thank you so much, Project: Rooftop, not just for the consideration, but for being a regular source of artistic and design inspiration. I look forward to contributing more pieces and hope to inspire others as the P:R artists have continuously inspired me.

Good News, Everyone!

My illustration is up in the first Reader Art Gallery for The Line It Is Drawn feature over at Comics Should Be Good, a terrific blog from Comic Book Resources.

I chose the first topic/challenge, which asks...
What would be your dream crossover between characters from two different comic book companies (that hasn’t already taken place, that is)?

My answer? Marvel's Storm & DC's Vixen. High-adventure with high-fashion across America to/from Africa.

Check it and the fantastic pieces from other artists out HERE!

CommAHnds You To Release HAR!

Chris Bachalo's work from CURSE OF THE MUTANTS: STORM + GAMBIT made me wanna see how I'd draw Storm in her more widely used current costume. I took a couple liberties in terms of detailing and I came up with this take that I'm most happy with. Enjoy!

I Really Like It Now

It's my first time messin' with the redesign. I didn't mind the change too much from the start, but when the jacket came off, I started really diggin' it! Here's a rough pass. Enjoy!

Finger Lickin' Good

Here's Tony Chu a la mic? from Eisner Award-winning series CHEW! It's one of my favorite titles so I gotta give it love. I read that it's been greenlit for a TV series. I DEMAND that Ken Leung plays Tony Chu!!

If you aren't reading this consistently great title yet, it's not too late to start! Try out issue one for free HERE!

Right-Handed Batman

Gail Simone issued a random and fun challenge. Draw Batman with your non-dominant hand in 10 minutes.

I'm a lefty, so I drew Bats with my right hand. I'm absolutely shocked my sketch didn't end up being total crap. lol!

Heads Or Tails

It just recently occurred to me that I never drew Two-Face, aka Harvey Dent, ever. I had to redeem myself. Here's a quickie!

Airport Sketch

Well, okay, I started it at the airport before I flew back to The City from SDCC, but remembered to finish it just last night. hahah By request... it's Helena Bertinelli, aka Huntress! One of the realest heroines in the DCU. I used mostly Cully Hamner's design w/ a dash of Jim Lee's. I love both artists' take. Passionately.

The Black Wonder Woman

This is my Nubia redesign. When I found out about her last year, I was very intrigued. I tried to incorporate the different elements I liked in her incarnations over the decades. I gave her a sort of Wonder Woman 1.0 look, if, say, Diana was a 3.0. I made her armor call back to her Pre-Crisis uniform while infusing it with the lion avatar she was known to rock Post-Crisis. I ran with the idea that her eyes turn lion-ish when she uses her gorgon stare, the use of which, I reimagine, to be extremely limited, similar to how Black Canary uses her "Canary Cry" as a last resort. Also, the stare would be way powered down to just affect its victims temporarily. Mang... I could go all day with the possibilities for a Nubia comeback. Make it so, DC! She needs to hang out with Donna.

This Is Not A Protest

I don't mind the new Jim Lee WW redesign @ all. I just jumped on the redesign bandwagon that everyone else set off solely for fun.

Enjoy!

I Better Populate This Place!

In a non-Bizarro World, Gail Simone woulda had her own team book by now and Ryan Choi, The All-New (and far more superior) Atom, would still be alive and well. This is how I think a DoMA comic book team would look like. SENSATION COMICS perhaps?

mic?'s Blog of Earth-Prime: RISE!

I'll be resurrecting this blog and using it more often. I'm ready to come back to the world.

Expect more, pay less. Poot!
