The Hostess Saga

Here's my sequential illustration brought to you by The Line It Is Drawn 117: A Fond Farewell to Hostess! As a memorial to Hostess, I chose a suggestion, which allowed me to marry my former addiction (Powdered Donettes) to my new addiction (Saga).

I can't say enough amazing things about Saga. This is currently my favorite monthly read alongside CHEW. If I could only recommend 2 comic book titles for you to follow monthly, it would these 2. You're welcome in advance.

The Li'l Boys

Another Big Mike & mic? collabo!

This is an homage to Art Baltazar's TINY TITANS 43, which, in turn, is an homage to a YOUNG JUSTICE promo image. Love and inspiration are cyclical, y'all. Hope you digs this!

Renegade Sex MachIrizarri

A'ight... so this one went out to my boy, Daniel Irizarri, whose birfday it was recently.

Just some humble fanart of his character from his forthcoming creator-owned title Renegade Sex Machine. This is a total guess of what's underneath red's shirt... it could be machine parts and gears... but, since it's a dirty cochino drawing the fanart, I decided to focus on and have him give you some of the "S" of RSM. It's just how I roll. Leave me an opening, I go for it.

That's what she said.

Happy Halloween, y'all! Have fun & be safe!

Kumakain SiyaZAM!

SHAZAM meets Captain Barbell in Marvel Family Tribute Week over at The Line It Is Drawn!

Instead of the cliche misunderstanding and ensuing battle, I prefer to think this is how a Filipino superhero would meet a non-Filipino superhero for the first time... by feeding him/her.

Because Filipinos are super-friendly like that. Try it. Befriend one today and ask what Billy's eating.

Gotham Girls

Here's my illo of Black Bat & Spoiler looking for a new home in the DC Animated Universe, since... y'know... they're not welcome in the New 52.

Yeah... this piece comes off as a bit jaded.

This was done in celebration of the 20th Anniversary of Batman: The Animated Series over at The Line It Is Drawn. The DCAU rules my universe.

I used the Spoiler redesign by Dean Trippe because I love it to this day. It's what drew me to Project: Rooftop. Check out his thoughtful redesign HERE.

I made some adjustments to the designs of the other characters entertaining how their look woulda evolved if the Timmverse kept going. Fun!

The Final Stand

Here's my tribute to John Byrne's classic cover to X-MEN 137, but, this time, featuring Superman & Wonder Woman in JUSTICE LEAGUE 137.

This was intended to be a part of The Line It Is Drawn 106: Comic Book Cover Homages, but I came across tablet problems with it becoming unresponsive so it was delivered a bit late. You can find the ninja post where it was featured HERE.

Hope y'all digs!

Professor X's Glee Club

It's Superhero 101 Week over at The Line It Is Drawn! Being an unabashed gleek, I couldn't resist going with this suggestion. Can you guess who's playing whom?

This was my first time really experimenting with SketchBook Express also, which led me to hop onboard the SketchBook Pro train. Hope y'all digs!

The Good, The Bad, The Weird

Here's my piece for the 100th week of The Line It Is Drawn over at Comics Should Be Good!

The challenge was to create a 100th issue cover for a favorite mash-up, team-up, or reimagined character from our first 99 installments.

So I chose to pay tribute to fellow Liner Marco D'Alfonso's hot The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly piece, which you can find HERE. I just can't say no to the combo of ninjas and Marco.

It was also a great opportunity to pay homage to one of my favorite Western flicks. I figured this would be the progression of such a comic book series by the time it reached issue 100.

Hope y'all digs!

Pride & Justice

Here's my illo for The Line It Is Drawn 93: Cross-Company Team-Ups! I chose a suggestion with Northstar meeting Apollo and Midnighter. I threw in Green Lantern and Grace Choi and paid tribute to an Alex Ross composition just in time for Pride Month back in June. Hope y'all digs!

RIP Mang Tony.

Whatever Happened to the American Amazon?

Still feel bummed about the loss of many of our favorite DCU characters pre-Flashpoint? I know I still do.

Thankfully, one of my deviantART buds, Juan Pablo Osorio, is spearheading a fancomic project that'll give us the closing chapter of the previous DCU with a focus on the characters that have been wiped away in the New52. It'll be told in the epilogue style of Alan Moore's classic Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow?

This is my redesign for Troy after she takes up the role of Wonder Woman in the story.

Hope y'all digs! If you wanna find out more information about or get involved with this project, contact Juan Pablo HERE.

Here's my new deviantART page for those of you who are into this kinda thing...

There was a reason why I chose not to have one, but I forgot what it was so now one exists. Go figs!

Yeah Yeah, Keezy Fem

I'm still super-excited over the Young Justice: Invasion premiere! I'm very pleased with all the character designs. I feel Wonder Girl's costume is a bit too plain, though, so I did my own thing. I kept it casual and sporty while giving it more of a modern feel. Hope y'all can dig it!

Good Morning, Angels

This is for the geek girls. There are comic book superheroines who continue to kick ass also.

You Are NOT The Father

By now, you may have heard of Before Watchmen. But did you know The Line It Is Drawn over at Comics Should Be Good explored the possibilities of After Watchmen?

I chose a concept, which featured the children of Nite Owl & Silk Spectre. Check it out HERE. Someone call Jerry or Maury!

Here's my cover to Young Justice 200 for the "Anniversary Issues That'll Never Be" theme over at The Line It Is Drawn! I hope y'all dig it as much as I enjoyed making it! I love these kids and hope there's a place for them in the DCU in the future.

Clockwise from the top: Milagro Reyes, Chris Kent, Lian Harper, Maxine Baker, Jai West, Irey West, Sin Lance, Damian Wayne

It Has GOT To Be Fattening

It's CBLDF Week over at The Line It Is Drawn! So we teamed up comic book characters with the symbol of the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund, Lady Liberty! I chose a suggestion from TLIID Suggestion Master Mike Shirley, which paired her with Tony Chu from my favorite comic book, CHEW!

Please consider being a member of CBLDF, a worthwhile and honorable organization, and cop that CHEW!

The Last JerkBender

It's NickToons Week over at The Line It Is Drawn! So I had to get down with an Avatar: The Last Airbender-related suggestion that mashes up the cast of the series with Bender from Futurama, another series I love. This time, it was from my friend and one of our top suggestion-givers, Mike Shirley!

Avatar: TLA is one of the greatest animated series OF ALL TIME. I was hooked instantly the moment I watched the first episode. I HIGHLY recommend it to y'all and your kids. It has a Star Wars-esque quality about the storytelling set against a fictional, highly Asian-inspired world.

However, AVOID the live-action movie AT ALL COSTS. If you already watched that abomination, please don't let it detract you from experiencing the phenomenon that is the animated series.

If you're like me and are already addicted to the cartoon and couldn't get enough after the series finale, there's great news! Gene Luen Yang and Gurihiru pick up the story from where the show ended in graphic novel format to bridge the gap between Avatar: TLA and its forthcoming sequel, The Legend of Korra. The story will be told in 3 trade paperbacks and the first one has recently been released. Buy it HERE or cop it from your local comic book shop. The Legend of Korra will begin airing later this year. Watch eet!

Start Snitchin'

It's Harry Potter Week over at The Line It Is Drawn! I was very unfamiliar with the books and films so I wanna thank my friends at Twitter for keeping me focused and intrigued with watching the series over the holidays! This goes out to you...
Nico Minoru & Cho Chang playing Quidditch!
