The Line It Is Drawn 200

So I used to be a part of this feature on one of  Comic Book Resources ' blogs called  Comics Should Be Good!  Here is a late and unused submission to celebrate its 200th installment. The topic was to make up a "Super Team" consisting of one Marvel character, one DC character, one character from an independent comic book company, and two characters from any other form of fiction (novels, movies, etc.). I went with my own suggestion to also celebrate a handful of young characters whom I most enjoyed reading and watching at the time of creating the piece, and they are: 1) Gabe Reyes as a Ghost Rider ( All-New Ghost Rider  by Felipe Smith & Tradd Moore ) 2) Milagro Reyes as a Green Lantern ( Blue Beetle  by John Rogers , Keith Giffen, Cully Hamner & Rafael Albuquerque ) 3) Atari ( Malinky Robot  by Sonny Liew ) 4) Oliver ( Malinky Robot  by Sonny Liew ) 5) Jinora ( The Legend of Korra  by Bryan Konie...

Shonen League

Here's my piece featured in The Line It Is Drawn 167: Thanksgiving Leftovers! Since I'm a huge fan of Death Note , I chose a suggestion from a reader who wanted to see "Light vs. L in Justice League of America 1." I took this opportunity to make a dream team comprised of lead characters from some of my favorite shonen anime, plus Dragonball Z and One Piece . I couldn't get into those two series, but I know they're popular for others to identify with. I hope y'all digs! Have a Merry Christmas, one and all! Peace.

Forever Bad

Yeah, bitch! The Line It Is Drawn paid tribute to one of my favorite shows, Breaking Bad , this week! Pictured below is my submission. Check out the Liners' sick sick sick mashups HERE . I hope y'all enjoy the finale! I know I will! Peace.

Thororo Munrodinson

What the deal? Here's my piece for The Line It Is Drawn 157: Celebrating 50 Years of the Avengers and X-Men! Keith Alan Morgan suggested a Thor + Storm team-up so I took it as an opportunity to illustrate a romantic pairing I've wanted to see for a while. Figured I should go ahead and just do it muhself! They could be Marvel's power couple rivaling DC's Superman and Wonder Woman pairing, methinks. What say you?  Hope y'all digs!  Peace.

Justice League Water Ski Show

Happy 4th of July, y'all! To celebrate, here's a variant of the Justice League Water Ski Show illustration that I drew for The Line It Is Drawn 145: How Do Superheroes Spend Their Summer Vacation? Here's the Pride version... Here's the 4th of July variant... It's more patriotic and less Crisis-y. Figured I'd cut the Justice League a real break this time. ;) I always wanted to draw my take on the Sea World Superheroes Water Ski Show. (Yup! It was a real thing!) Thanks to TLIID and suggestion-giver Bill Granderson , I finally got a chance to! For more on the history of the Sea World Superheroes Water Ski Show, check out author Marc Tyler Nobleman's wonderful and extensive research HERE . He also kindly wrote about my piece, which you can see HERE . Many thanks, Marc! Have fun and be safe, one and all! Peace.

Mix-Mixing It Up

In honor of Man of Steel 's US premiere, here's my illo for The Line It Is Drawn 143: Superman Team-Ups! I chose a fun suggestion from Rebecca Martin , who wanted to see Supes teamed-up with the Philippines' very own Captain Barbell! Judging from this previous piece , it looks like Barbs is gradually spreading the gospel of balut, one ubermensch at a time! So what'd y'all think of Man of Steel ? Peace.

One More Time

Here's my illo for The Line It Is Drawn 137: Comic Book Characters in Classic Music Videos! I chose a suggestion from Anthony O'Neal , which allowed me to bring Britney Spears into the world of Morning Glories . Will she survive the experience? Hope y'all digs! Peace.

MODOMACTIVATE!

It was that time of the year again last month: March M.O.D.O.K. Madness over at The Line It Is Drawn ! I went with a suggestion from Sam Hurwitt to M.O.D.O.K.ize O.M.A.C. because Kevin Kho is one of my personal favorites among the New 52 creations over at DC Comics. This one goes out to fellow Liner and art bro, Brendan Tobin , who hosts the annual March M.O.D.O.K. Madness . Check it out and enjoy! Peace.

This Girl Is Stormfire

Here's my illo for The Line It Is Drawn 131: The Great Comic Book Amalgamations of 2013! The Storm and Starfire suggestion I chose was from our very own Bill Walko ! Sweet surprise! Hope y'all digs! Peace.

Enter: Boo T. Licker

Here's my illo for The Line It Is Drawn 124: A Punderful Tribute to Peter David . I happened to choose a suggestion from one of our best and regular suggestion-givers, Zack Williams , because it CRACKed me up so much at first sight. I imagine Boo T. Licker to be some evil, depraved, sexual offending clown ejected from the same circus Deadman performed in. He eventually ends up as a ghost who complicates and makes Boston's death an unliving hell. I'll let the rest of youse fill in the blanks.  Peace.

Avatar: Revelations

Here are my character designs for The Line It Is Drawn 123: Post-Apocalyptic Comic Book Characters ! Being a HUGE Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra nut, I chose a suggestion from Starpilot Six calling for a "Post-LoK, Post-Apocalyptic concept for the next 'Avatar' incarnation." My headspace was so immersed in the concept and characters, I decided to place all my focus on their designs and bits of their backstories. I imagine the world being like this... The time of Avatar Korra was reaching an end. Korra accomplished much in her earlier years, but the exponential development of technology and the ubiquitous resentment against empowered benders outpaced her influence in her twilight years. Using such technology, non-benders launched a nuclear assault against nations of benders, which almost brought about the complete end of the world. In her final days, Korra averted earth's total annihilation.  Half the world sought an end to bending...

NOW! Warriors

Here's my Marvel NOW! cover for a New Warriors title I wish would drop. It's part of The Line It Is Drawn 121: Lesser Know Marvel NOW! Titles . I love this team so much. One of the earliest and favorite superhero team books I was really into back in the day. At least the Nicieza and Bags run.  Since no New Warriors line-up is complete without a Nova, I added Sam Alexander into the mix. And since Sam and his ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN cohorts remind me of an animated New Warriors anyway, I added White Tiger and Power Man along for the ride. Of course, this Power Man is Victor Alvarez since Luke Cage would be too mature and popular for this team... as are Spider-man and Iron Fist. The three are a great fit and really put the "NOW!" in Marvel NOW!, yes? Well, it makes sense to ME! ;] The banner and "NOW!" logo are expertly reproduced by a fellow Liner, the super-generous and super-talented Bill Walko ! Thanks, Bill! Hope y'all digs this illo as ...

You Need Some Action

Tender satisfaction. Your chemistry is flowin'. I can cause a chain reaction. This is my illo for The Line It Is Drawn 119: Action Historical Figures! I hads to get down with the two First Ladies because I'm a fan of both. Hope y'all digs! Happy New Year! Peace.

The Hostess Saga

Here's my sequential illustration brought to you by The Line It Is Drawn 117: A Fond Farewell to Hostess!  As a memorial to Hostess, I chose a suggestion, which allowed me to marry my former addiction (Powdered Donettes) to my new addiction ( Saga ). I can't say enough amazing things about Saga . This is currently my favorite monthly read alongside CHEW . If I could only recommend 2 comic book titles for you to follow monthly, it would these 2. You're welcome in advance. Peace.

Kumakain SiyaZAM!

SHAZAM meets Captain Barbell in Marvel Family Tribute Week over at The Line It Is Drawn ! Instead of the cliche misunderstanding and ensuing battle, I prefer to think this is how a Filipino superhero would meet a non-Filipino superhero for the first time... by feeding him/her. Because Filipinos are super-friendly like that. Try it. Befriend one today and ask what Billy's eating. Peace.

Gotham Girls

Here's my illo of Black Bat & Spoiler looking for a new home in the DC Animated Universe, since... y'know... they're not welcome in the New 52. Yeah... this piece comes off as a bit jaded. This was done in celebration of the 20th Anniversary of Batman: The Animated Series over at The Line It Is Drawn . The DCAU rules my universe. I used the Spoiler redesign by Dean Trippe because I love it to this day. It's what drew me to Project: Rooftop . Check out his thoughtful redesign HERE . I made some adjustments to the designs of the other characters entertaining how their look woulda evolved if the Timmverse kept going. Fun! Peace.

Children of the 'Crow

What if Scarecrow was the mastermind behind the Children of the Corn ? This illo is part of Stephen King Week over at The Line It Is Drawn ! Booga booga booga...! Peace.

The Final Stand

Here's my tribute to John Byrne's classic cover to X-MEN 137 , but, this time, featuring Superman & Wonder Woman in JUSTICE LEAGUE 137 . This was intended to be a part of The Line It Is Drawn 106: Comic Book Cover Homages , but I came across tablet problems with it becoming unresponsive so it was delivered a bit late. You can find the ninja post where it was featured HERE . Hope y'all digs! Peace.

Hawk & Owl

This illustration tribute is part of The Line It Is Drawn 102.   RIP Joe Kubert. Peace.

Professor X's Glee Club

It's Superhero 101 Week over at The Line It Is Drawn ! Being an unabashed gleek, I couldn't resist going with this suggestion. Can you guess who's playing whom? This was my first time really experimenting with SketchBook Express also, which led me to hop onboard the SketchBook Pro train. Hope y'all digs! Peace.
